Sustainable? Sure!

Chances to improve sustainability/CSR will present themselves
With a name like Kolenbrander (“coal burner”) you will probably not automatically be linked to sustainability. So after this first impression, things can only get better when it comes to this topic.
Sustainability means two things to Henk Kolenbrander:
- the result needs to be beneficial to the customer for a long time
- the result will – if possible – contribute to becoming more environmentally friendly
For the latter, supply chain management provides lots of opportunities. It, for example, improves transport efficiency: fewer movements, fuller loads. This of course significantly reduces the energy/fuel consumption as well as emissions. Becoming more environmentally friendly and reducing costs go hand in hand here.
When it comes to the aspect of warehousing, you will often still find large flat roofs without solar panels. The costs for large-scale implementation of solar panels can very quickly be recovered nowadays; moreover, the panels will protect the roof from sunlight, which means it will last longer.
In each situation the opportunities for improving sustainability will present themselves.
